Job Description - Tomato Breeder (Vegetables Division) (00284) Job Description   Tomato Breeder (Vegetables Division) - 00284 Description   Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual to drive the Tomato Breeding efforts based in Murcia, Spain.  You will be a member of the South West Europe/Africa Tomato Breeding team and cooperate to develop competitive varieties for Spain, Italy, Morocco, and related markets.  As a Tomato Breeder, you will handle designs, development, executions, and implements of breeding research projects in collaboration with a larger research team.   Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a germplasm pool to ensure continued successful results Coordinate and place breeder trials in major market areas and travel to these areas for evaluation of entries in cooperation with other tomato breeders in the team Fulfill requirements for variety advancement through documentation of performance, resistance, and completion of required breeder's seed. Qualifications   Required Skills/Experience: MSc in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Crop Science or related field of study 5+ years experience managing a vegetable or row crop breeding program Experience with planning of  field trials,  managing field selection and evaluation of varieties Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others Excellent managerial and organizational skills with close attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple tasks and achieve deadlines Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, but also the capacity to learn and work with Monsanto proprietary breeding software Desired Skills/Experience: PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Crop Science or related field of study Knowledge of quantitative genetics, functional genomics, genetic statistical theory, and experimental design as it is applied to plant breeding Experience in Tomato/Solanaceous Breeding and Genetics Job   Research & Development Primary Location Europe Middle-East Africa-Spain-Home Office-Spain Organization   Global Breeding_51128775 Schedule   Full-time
