CABIMER is a Mixed Centre jointly run under the Ministries of Innovation, Science, Business and Health and the Spanish National Research Council, the University of Seville and Pablo Olavide University, while the managing body is the Progress and Health Institute. CABIMER is scientific biomedical multidisciplinary spaces in which research projects are carried out that bring together basic science groups with others whose aims embrace transnational research with repercussions on some of society’s main health concerns.

The groups that carry out their activities within CABIMER, in collaboration with researchers from other institutions, conduct studies with the object of developing diagnostic and therapeutic applications that redound in the transfer of results to the clinical practice.

Objective of the position:

The objective will be to test such retinal proginators for the functional rescue of animal models of retinal degeneration. Proginator cells will be transplanted by sub-retinal injection and monitored for neural connectivity in the host retina. Extensive immunohistochemistry, cell biology and electroretinographic tests will be performed to check the viability of such transplanted retinas.

Qualification

- A suitably qualified scientist is required to undertake research in stem cell biology with explicit aim in the differentiation of ES cells to retinal photoreceptor lineage.

- The person must have a Ph.D degree in Stem Cell biology and at least 3 years (or equivalent) experience in stem cell differentiation and expression of suitable markers for cell recognition.
